What do customers have to say about this place?

“Yes to this omakase spot, by Singaporean chef Kenny Khoo. Excellent produce and meticulous attention to detail that made for an themlectable meal. Love how unstuffy it was too, just  Singaporean in vibe without any compromise to the quality and service we’ve come to associate with Japan  ?. Just stuff more of that usuzukuri (hamachi with assorted toppings of caviar, bonito, and whatever that green thing is) into my body already! Will be back, for food and sake.”- Fabian Tan

What do customers have to say about this place?

“Great place with friendly staff and chef (who speaks primarily in Japanese). I was allergic to prawns and they were flexible to offer alternatives. They were all seafood dishes with ingredients that are in season. I like that for most the dishes they would show us the raw ingredients on the ipad. Was really full after the whole meal (of 20 odd dishes). Reasonable alcohol pricing too!”- Chmel Oon

What do customers have to say about this place?

“Came here to celebrate my birthday and I have to say this is one of the best Japanese sushi restaurants I have ever been to. Firstly the service was amazing, the staff were extremely friendly and patient. They explained to me the different types of dishes and what ingredients were used in it which was very insightful. The environment makes you feel like you are in a Japanese home which was very comforting and peaceful. Moving on to the food, the food was just simply amazing. Every mouthful of sushi was so fresh. It is as though you are eating the sushi straight from when it was caught from the sea. You can just taste the ocean directly in your mouth which was amazing. The different types of sushi and dishes had so many unique flavors which left me really satisfied with every bite. The presentation of the dishes was really good which added to the overall experience, the Japanese dining experience. The desserts were exceptional too and I would say the Japanese melon was one of the highlights. It is so sweet and juicy which was very refreshing. I would highly recommend trying it. Overall Shinji is one of those restaurants that leaves you very happy and satisfied once you walk out of the restaurant. I will never forget the experience.”-Ryan Loh

The chef explained the types and parts of the fish from different parts of Hokkaido.  The ingredients were very fresh. The settings and introduction of every dish were matched nicely. “Very very good meal and pleasant experience. Every dish was well prepared, balanced, and refined. Little details from the use of Gin pepper on Sushi to caramelized sauce on their signature Monkfish liver have demonstrated effort to bring the flavors to the next level. The service was top notch – other than the very attentive staff, the restaurant was also very generous to offer a sampling of three sake before I picked my preferred choice. What do customers have to say about this place?

“Incredible value. Great food at an unbelievably low price in the city. Ordered two sets at $9.80 each: Miso Katsu (pork cutlet with a miso gravy) and Salad + Sushi. Both sets came with miso soup and chawanmushi. The Katsu was crispy and flavourful, and the sushi and salad were both satisfactory. Added on a canned drink for $1. Side dishes of chawanmushi and miso soup were warm and hearty.

The staff was great as well! Everyone was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back.”- Glenn Chew
